Review by Marlene Engel
Two
years after Cate’s husband is killed in Iraq, she needs to be in an area that
won’t serve as a constant reminder of what she lost. She chooses to move to Amberley, Massachusetts
in the hope of making a new life for herself.
What she didn’t expect was to find a close-knit group of ladies who are
all so different, but share the sacredness of friendship. And, after moving into a store-top apartment,
she discovers journal entries chronicling the life of Holocaust survivor
Miriam. Through these entries, both
women’s lives seem to parallel each other.
Though living in different times, they share similar experiences. And, it’s through these pages, and the help
of her friends, that Cate starts to heal.
With
tragic, yet powerful, events the authors transports us in time and around the
world. We are gifted with a cast of
amazing characters and a story that will have us anxious to share it with
others.
