Forever Fredless - Cover Reveal

Forever Fredless
By Suzy Turner

Kate Robinson has spent the past two decades yearning to find her soul mate, the boy she found and then lost during a family holiday. Shortly after her twenty-eighth birthday, however, she inherits a fortune from an old family friend and becomes something of an overnight celebrity. Can her new-found fame lead her to him after all this time?

Forever Fredless will be available from online bookstores starting October 2013

Suzy Turner was born in the town of Rotherham, Yorkshire, in 1975. She lived there until 1986 when she and her family embarked on an adventure to a land where the weather was warmer and the people spoke a strange language.
It didn’t take long for Suzy to pick up the Portuguese language in her new home of the Algarve, but it was the English language that always enchanted her. She could usually be found with her head in a book, whether she was floating around in the swimming pool or tucked up in front of a roaring log fire (yes, Portuguese winters are chillier than most people imagine!).
After completing her A’levels (yes, they included English Literature), Suzy was offered a job as a trainee journalist for a local English newspaper. Although her love of writing began to develop, so did her hatred of intruding into people’s lives and so Suzy found herself working behing the scenes, which eventually led to features writing.
Accepting the job of Assistant Editor for a popular lifestyle magazine proved to be a position she particularly enjoyed, especially as she was often given the chance to meet and interview people from all walks of life. This led to her becoming the Features Editor back at the newspaper before eventually becoming Magazine Editor. The recession, however, had others ideas and Suzy had no choice but to accept redundancy.
With an ever supportive husband behind her, Suzy decided to do what she had always dreamed of. And so she became an author, writing books for teens.
Suzy continues to live with her husband in Portugal.

Something To Prove - Cover Reveal & Giveaway

Something to Prove
The O’Learys
By: Shannyn Schroeder
Releasing January 2014

Two ambitious people team up to prove themselves to their families—and find there may be more to their partnership than just business…

Elizabeth Brannigan is determined to show her father she’s capable of running the family business. Saving his struggling Chicago bar seems like the perfect project. But she’ll need a little help dealing with the rough crowd. Who better to assist her than the handsome co-owner of a thriving Irish pub? Of course, with so much work to do, there are bound to be a few late nights…

Colin O’Leary’s father passed away before he could prove to him that he wasn’t a screw-up. Now he wants to show his brother he’s responsible enough to own a bar of his own—and Elizabeth may be able to help him. But when their professional aspirations clash, tempers—and passions—flare. Are they mature enough to mix business with pleasure—or will they have to choose between the two?

Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”
So she did.

That first book is safely buried on her hard drive, but the process set Shannyn on the path to where she is today—agented with a debut ebook coming out with Kensington in late 2012.
She is recovering from her Diet Coke addiction, fears putting her foot in her mouth on social media, and has a renewed appreciation for the bad girls of the world.

Divided By Livia Jamerlan - End of Summer Giveaway

By Livia Jamerlan

Kneeling next to him on the bed, his lips covered mine as his hands reached for my neck pulling me closer to him. Needing to be closer, I wrap my hands around his hair deepening our kiss. I place my legs around his waist not letting go. He moves, pushing me back which causes me to lie on my back again. He covers my naked body with his. He pulls away from my lips and looks deep into my eyes.
"I promise I will try every day to make you smile."  He says, letting me know by the look in his eyes that I made the right decision.
I lean up and bring my lips to his again, exploring his mouth with my kiss. He is my undoing. Being underneath him is my serenity. His hands slowly reach down and grab my breasts. Reality sets in and hits me like a ton of bricks. We were made from one another. Our bodies perfectly united as one, every part of my body fits his, his hands fit perfectly around my breast, his lips mold perfectly to my nipples. Our bodies are synced as one.  He slowly rubs the tip of my nipples. I begin to arch my back as the purest of pleasure is shooting down into my core. Again.
"Please." I beg in between breaths. He pulls away bringing himself up so his mouth meets my neck. His favorite spot.
"Say it again. Beg for it." He commands with each soft kiss. He moves down my neck, towards my collarbone. The sweet tingly sensation cause by his lips makes my toes curl.
"Please." I breathe out as his hand continues tantalizing my nipple. He makes his way to my breast and looks up at me before he licks hard nipple ever so slowly. My eyes roll back into my head and he continues to lick one while softly pinching the other. The need for release is building but I don't know how much longer I can handle him teasing me. He switches to the other side. The teasing is no longer sweet but carnal. He is devouring each one like his favorite flavor of ice cream.
"Please. Baby please I can't take it anymore."  I beg, needing his help with the ache between my legs.
He rises from my breast slowly placing feather soft kiss along my abdomen. When he spreads my legs my heart stops. I grip the sheets as I anticipate his dive into my core. Holding my breath waiting for his tongue to meet my clit, I feel my heart throbbing in my chest. When I feel his tongue on my most sensitive part, moans erupt from me that I can’t control. With my eyes closed, I feel him. He begins down low in my opening licking his way up to my swollen bead.
"I love how wet you are for me." He whispers as he takes his thumb and rubs it up and down on my clit. "Will you come for me Alani?"
"Uh-huh." I can barely mange to think let alone speak. The only thing I can think about or focus on is  the most desirable man sitting in between my legs and savoring me.

Q&A With the Author

What was your inspiration for writing a cookbook?

I discovered a few years ago that readers love when I share recipes. I have a bunch available for free on my website, Last year, my editor asked whether I’d be interested in pulling them together and working with a cookbook developer to come up with the Fool’s Gold Cookbook. I have to say, it turned out spectacular! There are 150 recipes – California casual cuisine – for everyday and for special occasions. They’re all pretty quick and easy because the truth is, I’m too busy to spend hours in the kitchen. I’m a writer, first, last, and always.

Since writing romance is what I do best, I wrote an exclusive romantic novella that’s included in the Fool’s Gold Cookbook. Chefs Ana Raquel and Greg heat things up in the kitchen and on the pages. The story is a gift for my longtime readers, and also a way that new readers can get a taste of Fool’s Gold. An amuse bouche.

Describe your book in three words.

Recipes and romance.

Do you prefer print books or e-books?

For fiction, I honestly don’t have a preference. For me, it’s all about the story, and I don’t care whether I get that story by reading paper, pixels, or by listening to an audiobook. However, for cookbooks, I definitely prefer print. So much easier to flip back and forth to the index.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I love crabby women. I find them endlessly entertaining! And perhaps people would be surprised to discover that I am occasionally *cough, cough* crabby, as well.

What can your readers expect next from you?
Next up is CHRISTMAS ON 4TH STREET, a Fool’s Gold romance. One of my Christmas traditions is to read romances to get me into the spirit of the season, so it’s always thrilling when I’m asked to write one. If you’ve never read a Fool’s Gold romance before, start with this one.

Noelle Perkins has opened the Christmas Attic in downtown Fool’s Gold. Unfortunately, just as the holiday rush hits, snow hits the mountains, and all of her flaky seasonal employees quit to go skiing. Enter Gabriel Boylan, an Army doctor on medical leave. Gabriel is experiencing compassion fatigue. Helping Noelle for the holidays is the perfect distraction while he decides whether to return to the combat zone. The one thing he’s determined to do is to protect himself from falling in love. Life is too tenuous to put your heart on the line, Gabriel thinks. Noelle knows the opposite is true – life is short, so when you find love, you have to grab hold and never let go. Maybe a little Christmas magic will open Gabriel’s heart.

If you enjoy getting swept away by small-town, Christmas romance, then you’ll love CHRISTMAS ON 4TH STREET.

Academy of Love - Review & Giveaway

Academy of Love
By Kate Deveaux

Cassianna Baxter steps into The Lewiston Academy For Girls for the first time in twelve years.  This time, instead of walking the halls as a student, she is now the Deputy Head Mistress at the academy.  As she looks out at the stables, a place that she has spent countless hours, memories flood her thoughts.  The memories aren’t only of her days riding, but of Lawrence Taylor … her riding coach, first love and the man who broke her heart.  Those days were well in the past though.  Cassianna hasn’t seen Lawrence since she fled the academy and was positive that he had left the school years ago.  To her surprise, she bumps into him while giving a tour of the school.  He not only still works at the academy, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees there.  Seeing Lawrence again brings back all of the memories they shared.  Memories of their passion and her strong attraction to him.   But Cassianna is hesitant to walk down that road again with him.  He walked away from her before without even an explanation.  Her fear was that he would do it again.  But her feelings and the strong sexual attraction that they share is too much for Cassianna to deny.  Reluctantly, she decides to go with her heart.  She just hopes that he doesn’t break it again.

I really enjoyed reading Academy of Love.  The chemistry that the characters had was undeniable, their passion was hot and the scenes were steamy.  I thought that the story was well written and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next.  If you’re looking for a hot story with even hotter characters, then this book is for you.  I would definitely recommend this book to others and look forward to seeing what the author has in store for us next.

Blame It On The Fame - Review

“And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to …”  There are five VERY different woman who are all anxiously awaiting the name at the end of that sentence, but not everyone wanting it to be their name called.

There is Danielle Jamison, a two time Oscar nominated actress who is not the sweet Kansas girl that she portrays to the public.  Instead, she’s a queen bee who bosses people around and only spends time with her kids when she knows the media will be around to see her.

Then there’s British actress, Philippa Sutcliffe, who is a star of stage, screen and television.  Her response to being nominated was less of excitement and more of disinterest.  Philippa feels that the Oscar winners are based more on popularity than talent and could care less about her nomination and even less about winning.

Anaya Reynolds is not your typical Oscar nominee.  She is a pot smoking, tequila drinking model turned actress.  If she wants any chance of winning this prestigious award, she better learn to keep her panties on and her bare bottom out of the paparazzi’s lens shot!

Jordan Schaeffer, daughter to two well-known actors, definitely has the pedigree of an Oscar nominee.  With all of her parents celebrity connections in Hollywood, one would think that she would be a shoo in to win the coveted golden statue.  But just because your parents are the king and queen of Hollywood doesn’t mean that the trophy will automatically go to you.

Laurel Hastings is no rookie to acting, but her mental health forced her to take a break from it.  Thinking that it may fulfill her need for creativity, Laurel decided to start acting again.  Had she known that she would be nominated for an Oscar, Laurel would’ve never even considered acting again.

Go behind the scenes with the nominees as they smile for the press, talk trash behind each other’s backs and each go through their own personal struggles.  Life in the lime light isn’t always fancy cars and shopping sprees.  There are struggles that no one else sees, but you never want to blame it on yourself.  Instead, it’s easier to Blame It On The Fame!

Blame It On The Fame is Tracie Banister’s debut novel.  I thought she did a great job giving the reader a behind the scenes look at the life of a celebrity.  I enjoyed the uniqueness of each character and the parts they played in the story.  I found myself rooting for certain celebrities to win and hoping others wouldn’t.  Overall, I found this book to be very enjoyable and humorous.  I felt that the author did a great job keeping me engaged and wanting to see what was going to happen next.  I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking for a fun, entertaining and captivating read.  Tracie Banister’s second novel, In Need of Therapy, is also out.  (You can read my review at Chick Lit Central if you click HERE.)  I really enjoy her books and look forward to seeing what she’ll come up with next!

An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett O'Hara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4th grade class performed an original holiday play that she penned (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she, also, starred in and tried to direct the production.) Her dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a "real" job in order to pay her bills. Her career as personal assistant to a local entrepreneur lasted for 12 years. When it ended, Tracie decided to follow her bliss and dedicate herself to writing full-time. Her debut novel, the Hollywood-themed Blame It on the Fame, was released in January, 2012. And she followed that up with the fun and fizzy romantic comedy, In Need of Therapy.

Come to Me Quietly - Cover Reveal, Teaser & Giveaway

From the acclaimed bestselling author of Lost to You and When We Collide comes a new adult novel of one woman’s obsession: a man who’s as passionate as he is elusive—and as tempting as he is trouble.…

Aleena Moore is haunted by Jared Holt. It’s been six years since she’s seen her brother’s best friend, the self-destructive bad boy she secretly loved in high school. As the years pass, she knows it’s time to move on. Time to decide between a practical nursing degree and her true dream as an artist. Time to get over Jared and give another guy a chance…

Just when she opens her heart to her friend Gabe, Aly returns home to find Jared sleeping on her couch. The teenage boy she loved has grown into a man she can’t resist. Covered in tattoos and lost in rage, he’s begging to be saved from his demons—the memories of the day he destroyed his family. As the two reconnect, their passion is hot enough to torch Aly’s judgment. But can she risk her future for a man who lives on the edge of destruction?

What the hell was I doing?
Everything about this situation was wrong. Aly kneeling in front of me. Touching me. She was close, too close. I could taste her breath, and I kept catching hints of that fucking delicious coconut body wash I’d used last night. Somehow it smelled a thousand times better on her.
These urges constantly hit me, and I couldn’t help imagining what it’d be like to bury my nose in the haven behind her ear, to press my mouth at her jaw, to tangle my hands in her hair. Against my better judgment, which could so easily be called into question, anyway, I gave in. Took a little.
I was always so good at taking.
The strand of hair I tugged between my fingers was soft, like silk against my callused skin. The action should’ve been innocent enough. I remembered doing it often when we were children, just a small act of affection to let her know it was okay she was there. There was never anything more to it than that.
But I knew better now, knew it would stir the need I’d felt in the pit of my stomach since I found her backed against that wall last night, since she’d driven me half-mad in her kitchen this morning, since I’d stumbled into her apartment like the piece of trash I was tonight. Somehow she still found me worthy, kneeling in front of me as if I deserved even a scrap of the attention she gave me now.
With her head down, she attended to the wounds on my other hand. I allowed my gaze to fall, to trace the face I wanted to trace with my hands.
I didn’t think I’d ever felt intrigued by a girl before the way I was now, had never wanted to crawl inside someone’s mind to dig through her thoughts, to find out who she was. Why she was. Aly’s green eyes were both fierce and soft, her touch both intent and gentle. She was kind, yet she didn’t hesitate to call me out on my shit. She made me itch and squirm, made me want to run and want to stay.
She began taping up my second hand, forging this little truce between us, steadily sucking me deeper into a place I knew I shouldn’t go.
But I couldn’t stop it.
There was something about being alone with her in the seclusion of this apartment that I liked, like maybe we were sharing some kind of secret that no one else could touch.
A distorted sense of security.
For just a little while, I wanted to drift in the delusion.
I watched her as she worked. Every couple of seconds, she glanced up at me with those eyes that seemed to know more than they should.
Aly shifted closer. I attempted to scoot back without her noticing, but she tugged on my hand. “Would you hold still? You’re worse than a two-year-old,” she said.
Was she oblivious of what she was doing to me? Every time she moved, her chest brushed against my knees, and damn, if it wasn’t the greatest temptation I’d ever had to endure. Did she know how badly I wanted to touch her? To take a little more? Maybe take it all? My thoughts raced ahead, and I wondered what she’d do if I edged off the couch and laid her back on the floor. Would she stop me? Or would she allow me to feed off her compassion and goodness? Would she let me wreck her? Destroy her? Because that was the only thing I knew how to do.
I sucked in a breath and held it. No fucking way was I going there. Not with her, even if she was the only girl who’d ever made me feel like I had to have her. The first who’d ever made me want. That in itself was a pretty damned good reason to stay away from her.
That and the fact that she was Aly.
My Aly.
She sat back on her haunches. Her smile was soft when she looked up at me. “See? That wasn’t so bad, was it?”
“Thank you,” I said honestly, because it’d been a long time since anyone had taken care of me. It hurt to think of the last time someone had.
“You’re welcome.” Her voice was quiet, and she sat there, just staring at me, a lot like we had last night, although now things seemed completely different.
“You’d better get some rest. It’s really late,” I said. I’d lain flat out on the hard ground for hours while I let myself sober up to the point where I could at least get myself back to the apartment, and I hadn’t come crawling up the stairs until three in the morning.
“Yeah, you’d better, too.” She sounded a little disappointed.
Her delicate hands pressed into the couch on the outside of my legs as she helped herself to stand. This time her hair did brush against my chest. We both froze with the contact, and she looked down at me, her face three inches from mine. She hovered there, her eyes searching.
Motherfucking trigger.
I wet my lips and found my voice, although it was heavy with strain. “Please go to your room, Aly.”
Blinking, she nodded before she pushed herself the rest of the way up. She paused at her door, whispered, “Good night,” and then disappeared inside her bedroom.

This Fragile Life - Meet Kate Hewitt & Giveaway

This Fragile Life: From Idea to Book
By Kate Hewitt

Thank you so much for having me here! I’ve been writing romance for Harlequin Presents for seven years, but have wanted to branch out into women’s fiction for awhile now, so I’m thrilled that my first women’s fiction, This Fragile Life, is out with CarinaUK now.

I first had the idea for This Fragile Life—wait for it—nineteen years ago. I had newly moved to New York City, was fresh out of college and eager to pursue a career in playwriting. As I was crossing Ninth Avenue on my way to an unpaid and rather thankless internship at a playwriting guild, an idea popped into my head of two friends, Alex and Marsha, and how their relationship changed when Alex agreed to let Marsha, who had been struggling with infertility, adopt her baby. The idea was originally going to be a play called The Child Stealers, which is, of course, a bit pejorative—but even back then I was interested in the balance of power between women, especially when those women are good friends. I was also inspired by a play I’d recently seen, a feminist retelling of Beauty and the Beast by Louise Page, and, being young and full of myself, was eager to seem edgy and avant-garde.

Well. I wrote lots of notes and exactly one scene and then flitted to something else. I thought of the idea occasionally, and I think I might have wrote one more scene at some point, but it was firmly on the back burner until a year ago, when I was struggling to finish a different story for a prospective agent, and the idea dropped into my mind as if someone had hijacked my subconscious, except this time I had an added ‘what if…’ which I won’t share since I don’t want to spoil the story, but it made the entire idea sharpen into focus, and this time it would be a novel rather than a play—I gave up playwriting years ago.

I wrote the first third of the manuscript in three days.  The voices of Alex and Martha (changed from the original Marsha!) came to me so clearly, I felt as if I knew them and they were talking to me, telling me their stories, spilling their secrets, their hope and their pain. I love when that happens—and I’ll admit, it’s not as often as I’d like.

The working title of the story was Simple Gifts, which I changed to The Last Breath after a few days, and eventually ended up, a year and four sets of revisions later, as This Fragile Life. Only nineteen years in the making!

It’s amazing and incredibly wonderful to me that this story is now out there, available to readers. It makes me realize that no idea is wasted, and stories can sometimes takes years to percolate—but like good wine, that just makes them richer and more complex. Has anything in your life—a story, a relationship, an idea or a dream—taken a long time to come to fruition?

Leave a comment and let me know your story, and I’ll draw a random name to
win a copy of one of my Harlequin Presents, digital or paper.
Giveaway ends Saturday, August 24 at 6 pm EST.

And if you’d like to read This Fragile Life, you can find it at all these places:

Happy Reading,

Blurb for This Fragile Life:

You love your best friend. You trust her with your life. But could you give her the most precious gift of all? Alex’s life is a mess. She’s barely holding down a job, only just affording her apartment, and can’t remember when she was last in a relationship. An unexpected pregnancy is the last thing she needs. Martha’s life is on track. She’s got the highflying career, the gorgeous home and the loving husband. But one big thing is missing. Five rounds of IVF and still no baby. The solution seems simple. Alex knows that Martha can give her child everything that she can’t provide. But Martha’s world may not be as perfect as it seems, and letting go isn’t as easy as Alex expected it to be. Now they face a decision that could shatter their friendship forever.

Camden Webber is an FBI agent with a massive chip on his shoulder—namely not being able to forget the woman whose usual inability to say no didn’t keep her from shooting down his proposal five years before. Though he has jaded views on weddings and marriage, Cam agrees to stand at his best friend’s side.
When Nora and Camden are thrown together at an engagement dinner, despite their tumultuous romantic history, they devise a plan to break up the ill-suited bride and groom. As the big day nears, emotions hit a breaking point, proving that wedding planning is more suited to a reality show and while happy endings are optional, they exist amidst the rubble, if the couple looks hard enough.

I’ve got to get up and go take a freakin cold shower so I can go to sleep…I can hear her breathing . It’s taking everything I have in me not to crawl over there. I get in the shower and I smell her soap, her shampoo, jeez this girl…I think I’m going to have to move out just so I can date her. After a LONG COLD shower I walk back and climb into bed. The next morning I wake up to a blood curdling scream. I look over and I don’t see Gabby in the bed. I run out in my boxers about that time Cade is coming out of her bedroom in his boxers. Gabby is in the bathroom screaming, we can hear stuff being thrown around in there, I’m scared someone has came in and is hurting her in there. Cade and I try to open the door but it’s locked… Cade yell’s at her, “Gabby what’s wrong open the damn door!” She still screaming, I look at Cade and he looks at me we both throw our shoulders into the door breaking the frame so we can get in. We both stop suddenly as we bust in. Cade looks at Gabby, “Crap Really Gabby! A damn mouse you had me and Linc break the door for a freaking mouse!” I was about to be pissed too until I saw her up on the vanity in nothing but a towel. She’s mad, “Cade get it out of here, you know I hate those things.” Cade rubs his head, “I should leave you in here with it Gabby, why didn’t you just run out of the bathroom?” “Well because it was blocking the door.”
