Betrayed - Review & Giveaway

Review by KT Sullivan
Judy Carrier is a lawyer with Rosato and Associates. A big corporate case is obtained by the firm, but all Judy can think about is her Aunt Barb. She’s been diagnosed with breast cancer and faces major surgery. During a visit with her aunt, Judy meets her good friend and housekeeper, Iris. Iris leaves to go to work and is found dead in her car by the police. A heart attack is the official cause of death, but Barb and Judy don’t believe it. Judy decides to ask some questions when she notices defensive wounds on Iris’ hands. She finds out more than she bargained for when a stash of cash is found in Iris’ belongings. Now people close to Iris have disappeared, are robbed, or die. Judy becomes a target and isn’t sure whom to trust when an old friend reenters her life. Does Judy have time to break up with her boyfriend, de-flea her dog, and solve the case before the bad guys find her?

Many women can relate to Judy’s failing love life. She breaks up with Frank as he’s proposing marriage. They love each other, but are never on the same page. As the title suggests, trust looms large in the story. Believing in the wrong people hurts the vulnerable. In Judy’s case, by the end of the story, is she ready to trust again? That is a question for the next book. This is one in a series of books, but it can be read as a stand alone. A few twists in the plot of the story and a major twist in the series keep this book interesting.
