In
Kristy Woodson Harvey's The Secret to Southern Charm we meet Sloane and her
family. Sloane is one of three sisters. Her sisters are Caroline and Emerson.
She is the quietest of the three but the most intuitive. Slone is married to
Adam and they have two very young boys, AJ who is three and Taylor who is six
months. Adam has always been her rock and her home. He is a strong and loyal
Srgt 1st class soldier. While deployed, Adam goes MIA. Going MIA, Sloane and
the boys stay with her mom, Ansley, in Peachtree Bluff, GA.
Sloane's world crumbles after Adam goes missing. Her family becomes very supportive of her as she cannot even get out of bed and care for her boys. She actually stays in her room for 34 days before coming out. Ansley is Sloane's biggest helper despite Ansley having to still care for her own mom who is sick with cancer and does not have long to live. Ansley has a secret she has kept all of the girls lives and fears it will come to light during this ordeal.
Sometimes the truth is hard to swallow but with everyone's support and love, they are all able to love, encourage, and give each other the strength they each need. They chase their dreams, face their fears, and take leaps of faith.
Through all this Sloane believes the secret to southern charm is having a brave face, carrying on, helping others, being kind and humble, giving to others, and believing with all your heart that the world could be a better place and maybe she could make it that way.
This story shows us how missed opportunities and second chances occur for everyone and once the truth is found, change happens.
