A Cowboy For Christmas - Review

Review by Marlene Engel

It’s been 15 years since Annie Prudhomme had been back in Marietta.  She eagerly left when she was 18, convinced that she would make it big.  Now, after a humiliating divorce that stemmed from a Ponzi scheme her former husband was involved in, Annie is broke and back in Marietta.  With nothing more than her car, dog and family’s ranch, which is falling apart and needing much work, Annie doesn’t have much to her name.

While waiting tables at Main Street Diner, Annie sees Carson Scott and the memories come rushing back.  Carson had been Annie’s boyfriend in high school.  When she left Marietta 15 years ago, she left without even explaining or saying goodbye to Carson.  Seeing him again, brought back the emotions of how she’s always felt for him and the regret that she has been carrying around for all these years.  Not knowing if Annie was going to be in Marietta for a while, or take off as quickly as she did before, Carson would like to get some answers … starting with why she left so abruptly.  But getting answers wouldn’t be as easy as he’d like.  Embarrassed of the way her life had turned out, Annie was quick to brush off any conversation of her past.  But Carson refused to play into this game.  If there was any chance of them even being friends, he expected her to be honest with him.  But will Annie’s past prevent her from having a future with Carson?  Or will she be able to let go of the pain she has been carrying and start a new life in her hometown of Marietta?

A Cowboy For Christmas is an emotion filled book that will have you appreciating the things you have and letting go of painful events of your past.  The connection that Annie and Carson have is palpable and will have you believing in the miracle of Christmas.  I love holiday themed books with an amazing story, hunky cowboys and a great love story! This is the perfect book to put you in the spirit of the holidays.
