Miranda Shane lives a quiet life among books and
letters as a professor in a small upstate town. When the playing-by-the-rules
poet throws out convention and begins to use a Scrabble board instead of paper
to write, she sets off a chain of events that rattles her carefully planned
world.
Her awakening propels her to take risks and
seize chances she previously let slip by, including a game-changing offer from
the man she let slip away. But when the revelation of an affair with a
graduate student threatens the new life Miranda created, she is forced to
decide between love or poetry.

It's been six
years since Scott made a move for Miranda and then left without so much as a
good-bye. Her quiet world is about to go
into a tail-spin when he resurfaces with his daughter; a child that no one had
any clue about. Left with even more
questions than before, this starts a series of less than stellar choices on her
part.
As a poetry
professor at a New England college, Miranda is used to letting her emotions
flow on paper. But when she begins
putting together poems on Scrabble boards and posting them online as the
Blocked Poet she is shocked to find that they’ve gone viral. Never in a million years did she expect that
so many people would be following her posts, or that a company would request
that she go public.
I love the
concept of poetry on Scrabble boards. I
love words and I love creativity. So to
incorporate poetry on a platform such as a word game board is art at its
finest.
A fun romance
novel with an engaging storyline, witty characters and some surprises that you
would never had expected.

Things about Brandi Megan Granett
1.
People
always ask why I became a writer. One summer, I finally finished all the Judy
Blume books in the library, saving Forever
for last, and I found myself in the adult side of the library. I started to
read everything by John Irving. I think A
Prayer for Owen Meany most inspired me to give this writing thing a try. I
loved how Irving created this entire world and showcased the friendships in it.
2. Shortly
after discovering A Prayer for Owen Meany,
I met my favorite all time English teacher, Harry Schultz. While he wasn’t the
first teacher to care about me, he showed me that words had power, and that you
can use them to reach out to others. He took the time to ask me about my life
after something I wrote on a spelling test, and I realized very quickly how
words could show others who you really are.
3. Confession:
I wrote the steamiest scenes in Triple Love Score in an attempt to
get my then-fiancée, now husband, home early from work. I am happy to say that
it often worked!
4. I
dream about hitting the road in our teardrop trailer. We have a king sized bed
on wheels with a pop-up kitchen. We can hook it up to the Highlander and hit
the road at any moment. In my fantasy life, we would make it to all 50 states!
5. A
dinner party for 40 is the exact right size for a good time. I am forever
looking for an excuse to throw a big event. I love planning the menu, cooking
the food, and the post-party wrap up of gossiping with my husband afterwards as
we clean up! In fact, to celebrate my book launch, I am having 40 authors show
up for a book festival called “River Reads” in my hometown of Stockton, NJ.
6. My
daughter, Meg, is my favorite student. We homeschooled her from pre-school to
the eight grade, and then again for her junior and senior years of high school.
She is an amazing poet and artist. I keep hoping she’ll write a novel with me
one day.
7. When I
was writing Triple Love Score, I was a tad obsessed with online Scrabble
and Words with Friends. I learned how to get those two letter combinations down
on the double and triple word score tiles. But, sadly, I am less good at
playing Scrabble without the help of the computer’s spell check. Kind of like
real life writing too—I am rubbish without spell check!
8. My
biggest guilty pleasure involves slacking off from work and hitting the archery
range. I have been shooting for a little over eight years and I love everything
about archery, from setting up my equipment to traveling for competitions.
9. I love
full moon kayaking. My husband, Avram, and I went for the first time in Maine
with LL Bean guides, and this summer we hit up Cape May. The water is peaceful,
the setting sun gorgeous, and it is magical to paddle back in the dark.
10. Part of
the reason why I write is because I never wanted to be just one thing when I
grew up. As a writer, I can pretend to be many things. In my next novel, Straight Shooter, my main character
inherits a summer camp—one of my dream jobs that I get to live out through her
story.
11. Second
confession: I took an in-depth class in Science Fiction to avoid taking a class
on Shakespeare. I’ve since changed my mind about the Bard, but in college, he
and I were not meant to be friends.
12. I love
corgis. My first corgi, Riley, kept me company after I graduated college
through the first years of motherhood. Before Riley went over the rainbow
bridge, Red Sharky joined our family. (He is named after a character is Eoin Colfer’s
Half Moon Investigations). He keeps
me company every day while I am writing, but he is especially keen on
lunchtime.

Writing from Aberystwyth University, Wales, an MFA in Fiction from Sarah
Lawrence College, a Masters in Adult Education with an emphasis on Distance
Education from Penn State University, and her BA from the University of
Florida.

and other literary magazines, and is collected in the volume Cars and Other Things That Get Around.

When Granett is not writing or teaching or
mothering, she is honing her archery skills. She lives in New Jersey with her
husband, daughter and two dogs.
